Booking is now open for the first parent workshops confirmed as part of Going Forward – Preparing Parents for Transition, the new 2-year project led by Contact and funded by the Scottish Government.
All the workshops are aimed at parents and carers of young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities who are looking for more information about the process of transition and leaving school, and have been developed in partnership with local parent groups and support services so each one is as relevant as possible to local families.
Places are free but limited, and can be reserved by going to http://goingforward.eventbrite.com. Please feel free to share details about the project with your networks, or directly with any parents and families who may be interested in taking part!
The confirmed workshops are:
· Inverness – Preparing for transition (this workshop is being run twice, as a daytime and evening session)
· Alloa – Preparing for transition
· Inverurie – Preparing for transition
· Livingston – Preparing for transition
· Galashiels – Powers of attorney and guardianship
This is part of a major consultation with families and young people across Scotland, starting in September and running to the end of December. Parent participation will directly shape a new information resource to be launched next year, to bridge the information gap for parents as young people progress through secondary school. For more information, or to take part in the online discussion, www.contact.org/Scotland or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
