Ruth's story
Ruth's story shows what a quality short break should look like - for all the family.
"Getting Ruth to Countryview was an uphill struggle. It felt like we somehow had to prove that we were at breaking point before the authorities would grant us the care that was needed....Having pushed for this day for so long, we still had some feelings of apprehension. We needn't have worried though; Ruth took to it like a duck to water and now gets so excited when she sees her overnight bag coming out.
"Countryview has a double benefit - we have the freedom to spend more time with our son Sean and to make choices like going out for a meal or away for a couple of nights which is wonderful. We get a break but so does Ruth. Seeing how happy she is when she comes home and knowing she has really enjoyed herself is the best gift anyone could give to us."
Maggie and Brett Millett, Ruth's parents
"At Countryview we provide more than just a break. We focus on giving children and young people the chance to have fun and try new activities, as well as developing their social skills and independence. And because we provide a safe, secure environment, families know they can enjoy their time apart, recharging their batteries, and spending precious time with other family members. Everyone benefits."
