Case studies

In Glasgow, holiday playschemes for disabled children have been threatened with closure due to lack of funding.

A parent lost her direct payments because she used them to pay for childcare in a private daycare nursery so she could work.  The social work department deemed this to be education and therefore not to be paid for with social work money.

Three quarters of respondents said that their experience of childcare was poor or unsatisfactory - according to the What Makes My Family Stronger report by Contact a Family.
