Setting the Scene

A Map of Disabled Children in Scotland

Welcome to our unique online resource which provides a map of disabled children in Scotland.

What the map does:

  • collates as much existing data as we could find about disabled children
  • lays out by local authority and health board statistics relating to disabled children, services and resources
  • provides a starting point for considering how to plan, design and deliver services and support in the future

What the map does not do:

  • provide analysis or interpretation of the data
  • generate a complete picture - the gaps form as much of the story as the existing content
  • provide qualitative information about the lives, views and experiences of disabled children and their families in Scotland

Who the resource is for:

  • everyone who wants to know about disabled children in Scotland
  • in particular, people who decide how to plan, design and deliver services
  • families who want to understand more about what is going on in their area

The online resource enables us to update the tables when new data becomes available.  It is a living, breathing resource that we hope will grow.

Please feel free to browse the tables and to dip in and out as often as you like.  Before you start, read how to use the site

And if you know something we don't, please tell us!  That way we can fill in the gaps.
