My nag story : chapter 2 (good things happen in this one)
RESULT!!
Following an email from my GP explaining that his 'sacred' GP book doesn't agree completely with my views regarding the Dermasilk order, I spoke to my Dermatologist about it today. She happens to know the product quite well (she has eczema herself) and will write a letter to my GP asking for a prescription of the right quantity of garments for Gaelle for both top and leggings! I suppose I should maybe wait for the day I actually have them in Gaelle's drawer before celebrating!
The other great news I received today also come from our helpful Dermatologist - who took the time to ring me, straight after coming back from her holiday.
This is about some food allergy tests. Gaelle has a couple of common food intolerances (nuts and egg white) but last week-end, she had a bad reaction to something at a BBQ that we didn't manage to identify. Her face and neck became bright red, spotty, hot and itchy. Then, a few hours later, as her face came back to normal, her legs and arms took a turn for the worst and her eczema flared up in a terrible way. She couldn't even stand the water from the shower on her skin, or me trying to cream her. It lasted for almost 3 days, even jeopardising her holiday abroad with her dad!
It was so bad that I took some pictures and emailed them to both my GP and the Dermatologist straight away to ask for some thorough allergy test. Today, Gaelle was referred by the Dermato to the sick kids' paediatric allergy unit for some specialist tests! I have been asking for this for years without much success - just a basic blood test done last year. To me, hearing the news felt like opening a present and shouting: Wow, that's what I've always wanted, thank you, thank you, thank you!!'
Hopefully, we will soon know for sure what to avoid in Gaelle's diet. And who knows, we may find the one ingredient that is causing her eczema?? That would be amazing. I very much doubt it, but you can only hope that it is another step in the right direction for my sweet Gaelle.
Today was a good day indeed.
