The Alternative!

Hi Everyone,

I know it has been a wee while since I have managed to keep yous up-to-date with all the going-ons in our palace with the twincesses.  But as you all are aware there are just not enough hours in the days and enough days in the week.  I have sooooooo much to share, so I better get started!

My first and last blog was all about the wonderful Bobath!  Katie has now finished all her therapy sessions and all thats left is for me to sit down with the therapist and make a future plan using the techniques and excercises that they done with Katie.  I have to say the small things that we have noticed already with her is amazing, so with lots of hard work and practice her wee body will be going from strength to strength :-)

There was one thing that we were a tad worried about and that was Katie's bum shuffling about, this was a huge achievement for katie as it was her way of being mobile on her own - but it did go against everything Bobath was teaching.  So, what do we do.  Well we can't take it away from her or stop her doing it but - We have found the alternative

As you can see from the picture it's like a standing frame but with huge wheels.  It's brilliant - Bobath had it on loan for a week for katie to try, the first time they put her in it she instantly had her hands on the wheels pushing herself about.  It was just another odd that she bet, we were so proud of her, even the therapists had a tear in their eye.  So this is a definite must for Katie to have, but like majority of equipment it comes with a price.  Will be having discussions with Katie's own physio as to the how's & why's & when's.

It was so nice to see Katie on the same level as her twin sister Holly, it was just like picturing what it would be like if they were walking along together.  When Katie was getting lazy Holly was the helping hand :-)  Ach well I suppose thats what sisters are for.

That is wonderful news! we have one of those pieces of equipment we call it a stander because that's what's happening. it is great, they get to stand without any pressure on joints and it stretches their legs which is what we need it for. Keep up the great work, beautiful photo!
