Bobath Baby!

My 'first blog' is about Bobath - And I couldn't think of a better thing to share with you all.

Katie has been going to Bobath for the past 4 weeks, next week is her final week and I must say we are all really going to miss going.  If any of you reading this has been to bobath with your child then you know what I mean, and if not then get the physio to refer yous.  What a difference we have noticed already with Katie, she is following patterns really nicely, her wee legs are taking more weight, so she feels stronger when you hold her at the hips.  The therapists that have been working with Katie are fantastic, not just working their magic hands on her, but even just their way with her and their patience, I really can't speak highly enough off them.  But we are already putting into practise some of the things they are doing, as you can see  by the pictures we have invested in a excercise ball, Katie didn't like this at first as she hates being on her tummy, not because of her Mickey button or being sore, it's just a position that she has never liked.  But, I have to say we are building her time up on the ball, and straightning her hips and tightening her muscles at the same time.  I only have 1 worry, and that is Katie's bum shuffling.  She has started this for the past month or 2, and its lovely to watch her getting around and for her to feel just a wee bit of independance, but the bum shuffling goes against everything Bobath teaches so....... What do we do?

I'll let yous know when the sessions have finished as to what and how we can replace this for her.

Gosh, reading your blog gave me goose bumps....these things come so 'close to home' when you have children who share the same types of lives.
Clare, and Derek, wow - hats off to you. Life is hard, and it's only natural to wish you could change it all - even if just for one day, but the love you so obviously have for your girlies...and what you do every day for Katie....that makes it all the more special.
Give Katie a big kiss from all of us... we're rooting for you. I never took Molly to Bobath, as I had never heard of it - only of Criaghalbert, and I feel the same way about them as you do Bobath - miracle workers.
I have something really special to share on here tonight....and I hope it brings you a smile, and a glow in your heart. It's one day which made my little twins special too.
