Not Enough Hours In The Day
Poor Lee what a horrible experience that he had to endure at his appeal for his DLA. I really did think that he was going to win. Welfare Rights were not allowed to represent him but I was allowed in but was not allowed to talk or say my peice. It was so frustrating and a few times Lee was close to tears and in the end he got angry. They told him after a few minutes that they were not changing the rate. His claim was renewed this month but as usual they can't get their act together so Lee is not recieving anything from DLA. They reckon that it will be 8 weeks before he hears from them. Lee finally got to see his Psychiatrist and has been diagnosed with depression. He has been started on an anti-depressants. His mood was so low and he just couldn't cope with life, his motivation was 0 and I was very worried about him. I am glad to say that the tablets are working although he is having trouble sleeping. He has just been given a dietitian and an OT, so I hope these help to get him on the right road again.
Well, Lee has had one of his eye lids done and he is looking really good. Dr has now decided to wait another few weeks to see if he will need the other lid done. He did say that the surgery wasn't that bad and if he needs the other one done it will be a peice of cake.
Connor Graduated from his High School and it was very emotional for me as I recall a Dr telling me that he wouldn't see his 1st Birthday. I am so proud of him, he has achieved so much with his life. It hasn't been easy but he got there at his own pace. His place at college is secure and he is looking forward to starting a new part of his journey. I am having a hard time trying to release the apron strings but I know that I have to do it. I'm sure he will be fine. We had a Garden Party at home to celebrate his achievements. It was a fantastic day and everyone enjoyed themselves.
On the health scene, Connor has been refered to hospital for an ultra sound as the Dr seems to think that all his tummy issues and pain is coming from his gallbladder. He is still waiting on an appointment for the Orthopedic Surgeon to see about his elbows which can't straighten. Our GP thinks that this has happened because when he was about 14yrs old he was given growth hormone treatment for about a year and it was the side effect of that. What's the NHS coming to? Connor still hasn't been started on the Concerta for his ADHD. CAMHS don't even return calls as we have been trying to set up a meeting with the Psychiatrist and Pharmacist to get him started on the drug before he starts college. Hard to believe that he has been waiting since he was diagnose in January.
My Mum and Dad celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Last week and they had a party. Instead of recieving presents everyone put donations in a box and Mum and Dad donated all the money to charity. Half went to Cancer Care as my Dad works as a volutary driver and Mum works in one of the charity shops. The other half went to Maggies who looked after our Aunt Margaret who battled three years before she passed from lung cancer. It was a really nice thing that my parents did I think. I am so proud of them and I love them to bits.
I will keep you up to date on the boys progress.
