Long Awaited Surgery

We are hoping that he will have the surgery by keyhole, but due to having a large liver and spleen we have been told that it maybe the big op that he gets. We are all praying for keyhole then he can get home the following day, if not then he will be spending Christmas in hospital. This was Connor's decision to have the surgery done on the 23RD of December.  All he is worried about is maybe not being able to join all of the family for Christmas dinner. Connor had to be taken off the Stratterra because it was contributing to his low mood and GI problems. He did see a Dietition who decided to put him on Ensure Drinks as the Scandishakes were making him sick. He has now been referred to a senior dietition as they seem to think that as usual he is a complicated case, what's new?

He has also seen the Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. There are mixed feelings with the results of this visit, as after waiting 7 months for the appointment they did not have his file so we were told that we were going to have a long wait. When we finally got to see the Dr she then wasted more time by sending us to have some xrays of his hips done. When we finally talked she said that Connor didn't have enough fat on his bones and that the muscle and tissue were rubbing on his hip joint. She has decided to send him to physio yet again, for what? another waste of time. He is supposed to go for the next 4 months and if it hasn't improved then he will have to get cortozone injections before yet more surgery. She would not really discuss the fact that the Adult Orthopedic surgeon who Connor had seen the week before and who had identified the problem with his elbows. He wanted to discuss with her the tests or scans that could be carried out to determain the extent of his problem. So we are still waiting on either of them contacting us. I really do wish that they would treat the whole person and communicate with each other.

I can't end this update without letting you know how my Gentle Giant (Lee) is doing. He is still having headaches and has stopped the Gabapentin. He also was taken off his antidepressant and has been started on Abilfy and he is doing much better. The eye Dr has decided to put his ptosis surgery on hold for about six months as it looks like the eye that he had done has returned to it's original position so he will need both eyes done at the same time. The question of wether he has Myathenia Gravis has come up again and he is being referred to a specialist in Myathia Gravis just to rule it in or out for good. We got good news this week, we don't have to go to appeal any more as the wonderful letter that his psychiatrist wrote explaining what Schizoaffective Disorder was and how it affected Lee must have done the trick. He has been awarded it until 2016.

Hope everyone has a good Christmas, I will update you all with the boys progress after the festive period.
